The gist: CrumbDB is made by one person, and that person reads every email. Write to crumbdb@dryan.com and you’ll get a reply, usually within a couple of days.
What to include
The more of this you can include, the faster it goes:
- What you expected and what happened instead.
- The device and iOS or macOS version.
- The app version and build. Both are at the bottom of CrumbDB’s Settings, under About, and a long press on either copies it.
- For a photo that matched wrongly or not at all: roughly when and where it was taken, and whether your iPhone was with you.
Please don’t send photos or location history unless asked. Nothing about a bug needs them, and we would rather not hold them.
Common questions
A photo didn’t get a match. CrumbDB can only match a photo to a moment it knows where you were. That means location recording was on at the time, or a workout with a route covers it, or another photo taken nearby already has a location. The Time Match Threshold in Settings controls how far apart the photo and the record may be.
A match is wrong. Tap the photo before applying and adjust or dismiss it. If you already applied it, open the photo in the Photos app and revert the location; CrumbDB never touches the original.
The Mac app doesn’t record. By design. Recording happens on your iPhone; the Mac matches photos against what your phone has synced through iCloud.
